About

Daniel Williams is a working-class playwright and script writer from the West Midlands, UK. His works have been performed on stage, radio and online. His play Sycamore Grove will appear at the Edinburgh Fringe in July and August following previews at Theatre503. Currently, he writes for the sci-fi horror YouTube channel The Dark Cosmos.

He was a part of Writing West Midland’s 23/24 Room 204 cohort to support writers from the region. Their support and mentorship lead to a successful DYCP grant in March 2024.

Horror in theatre is a great interest for Daniel and two plays have been produced for the Edinburgh Horror Festival. Sycamore Grove debuted in 2023 to 4 star reviews and lead to a co-production with Slainte! theatre and Theatre503 in 2024. In 2021, with Anusia Battersby, he co-wrote and co-directed the digital play Something Strange Has Happened on the 15th Floor. Daniel’s play Blood Ties was a finalist for the London Horror Festival’s Script Writing Competition and performed on the opening night of the festival.

During lockdown Daniel was involved in digital theatre making and became a member of the global digital theatre company The New Works Playhouse. By himself Daniel produced a digital scratch night of work-in-progress scripts, which lead to the creation of a digital play for the Edinburgh Horror Festival.

In 2012 Daniel received an MPhilB in Playwriting Studies from the University of Birmingham, where he now currently works.
